Love is Overrated

Love is over rated, so long as you have friends and family who care about you. I know that I deserve more than what your giving me, but I still care regardless.

A friend is supposed to make life easier.

All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.

Don’t need lots of money or a fine car, may not have everything that a girl could want, but I still have more than I could ask for – friends, family and humor.

If it makes you smile, do it again. If I tried living without you, I’d probably die. If I tried avoiding you, I’d go insane. If I went back and never met you, I wouldn’t be the person I am now.

When you cannot stop thinking of someone, there is a reason why they are there.

When I’m not talking to you, I’m either missing you, thinking about you, remembering you or wishing you were here.

Important Choices

Most people can look back over the years and identify a time and place at which their lives changed significantly. Whether by accident or design, these are the moments when, because of a readiness within us and collaboration with events occurring around us, we are forced to seriously reappraise ourselves and the conditions under which we live, and to make certain choices that will affect the rest of our lives.

Love the life that you live; live life to the fullest or it’s not worth living.

If you don’t like something change it; if you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.

Think before you act.

Oklahoma City SABE Conference

I just came back from Oklahoma City along with a couple of my co-workers from the Arc of New Mexico and New Mexico Center for Self Advocacy. We attended the Self-Advocates Becoming Empowered conference. It was well attended by over 750 professionals, self-advocates, parents, and siblings from all over the world. There were very good sessions to choose from anywhere from: jobs to Medicare to government funding, to people first activities, to living on your own, to managing finances to educational partnerships, to educating the public and families. Furthermore, New Mexico had an informational table that went well, and I facilitated a few sessions being the representative for region 3. We also had great guest speakers all 4 days. I was proud to represent New Mexico with my co-workers at the 2014 SABE conference. But you know with work has to involve fun so we also strolled downtown Oklahoma. It was an awesome experience and was so much fun. We had awesome ribs to eat that Oklahoma is famous for. I also had the chance to go to the country singer Toby Keith’s restaurant. Unfortunately the basketball team the Oklahoma Thunders weren’t in town, or else we would have enjoyed a game. I feel so lucky to be able to pay it forward.
